We left Big Bear on June 6th, 2012. Drove down the mountain to Redlands and stopped at the Auto Club to register the trailer (good idea, huh?!). As we drove up to the office, Scott realized there was a problem with one of the trailer wheels…. hmmmm…. after stopping at 3 different places trying to find a new wheel, he said forget it, and we took off for Las Vegas (stopping several times to tighten the lugs on the problem wheel). We arrived at the Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas after dark. This is a huge resort and very easy to access right off the freeway. We got a great discount with our Passport America membership and ended up staying three nights. We had internet, plenty of electricity for our air conditioning, a beautiful pool and workout room.

From Vegas, we headed out Hwy 9 to Springdale, Utah, to the entrance to Zion National Park. We found a campground and got settled in. Had dinner in the little tourist town of Springdale.

The next day, we took the shuttle into the park for a hike. Vickie was ready to take the short shady walk… however, when the tour guide announced the next stop was the beginning of the most dangerous hike in the park, where 6 people had died recently, Scott decided this was the hike for us!

Onward through Zion National Park

Hmmm… measuring our height to see if we fit through the tunnel.

Looks a bit small – the rangers shut down the other lane so we could drive through the middle of the tunnel.

One of the openings along the side of the 2-mile long tunnel.

We fit….

A second tunnel, not so long!
From Hwy 9, we took Hwy 89 to Paige, AZ – the southern end of Lake Powell.
